“What in the world is SOC 2 Type 1 and why should I care?”

Beyond its tongue-twisting capabilities, SOC 2 Type 1 is a stamp of security approval.

More specifically, it’s an independent audit to test how well we protect client data. It reviews our internal controls, policies and processes with the following criteria:

  • Security
  • Availability
  • Processing integrity
  • Confidentiality
  • Privacy

Passing the audit means we’re operating at the highest security standards. In other words, your data is safe with us.

More About SOC Compliance

SOC stands for System and Organization Controls. Per the AICPA, it’s the report certified public accountants use to evaluate businesses.

There are multiple SOC reports for service organizations:

Compliance requirements don’t change between types.  For example SOC 2 Type 2 isn’t better than SOC 2 Type 1. The difference between these two is testing time.

SOC 2 Type 1 tests during a certain point in time. SOC 2 Type 2 happens over a period of months.

Important to note!

SOC 2 Type 1 compliance is voluntary. Businesses like iVenture don’t have to do it, but we think it’s important.

Why Go Through SOC Compliance?

Having this compliance assures our clients their data is safe. For their own compliance requirements, they can be confident iVenture won’t cause any violations.

It also shows good faith. When new businesses request proof of our standards, we have direct, authoritative evidence.

Says iVenture CEO, Gray Mabry, ” Every audit gives us a chance to learn and grow. It’s an opportunity to see our company through an independent lens and make the right improvements.”

“Having auditors come into our office annually and inspect our adherence to procedures is what separates us from other MSPs,” adds iVenture president, Mark Schnitzius.

Along with SOC 2 Type 1, we’re also compliant with all HIPAA Security Rule standards.
